Home Sweet Home

Some pictures of the guest house where I live... my room, the living area upstairs, the front of the guest house, and the new guest house being built right next to us. :)

  2. Hi Nikki,
I have no idea how long it will take for boxes to arrive at Malamulo, but three are being mailed tomorrow (Dec. 1 here). I hope I can remember how to fill out customs forms! Laura has been home from Italy for 5 years already! I'm sure the Loma Linda post office personnel will be able to help me since most of our population is "International"! I had to take the sour warhead gummy squares out of the boxes in order to fit them in so when you see little clear bags of red (strawberry) and green (apple) squares, those are to eat! The majority of what you will receive is classroom/craft stuff...food next time around! We'll see how fast things ship and then decide how perishable your items can be!
Hugs from California where we are still awaiting our rainy season!

    1. I've heard 30 days is standard from another friend who is here, but that's in Blantyre so I'm not sure if it will be different for Malamulo but it takes a significant amount of time regardless! I'm thrilled and anxiously awaiting your packages here!!! :D Thanks so much for doing that! I still remember being so awed that you could actually go to Italy for school because it looked like Laura had such an amazing time!!! Hugs from Malamulo, hoping California finds the end of their drought! Also keeping the state in our prayers after the Loma Linda shooting. Really sombering to hear about that. Stay safe!

    2. Thank-you for your prayers. There are a lot of frightened people struggling to maintain a normal routine after Wednesday's terrifying events. There are so many rumors going around it seems better to turn off social media & the news to keep from becoming totally paralyzed with fear. Ironic that we have all been worrying about YOUR safety, eh? The post-office said 6-10 days for delivery so we'll see what happens. Diana bought herself a schnauzer puppy today & she's a cuddly sweetie pie! She took her directly to SanDiego with her for the weekend so we haven't seen how our chiweenierusselhuahua likes her. The cats will probably terrorize her because they are several times bigger than she is! Her name is Lily. The best news is that they are starting to lay the tile floors in our house on Monday! We have been 8 months with partly cement after a septic back up in April. The downstairs bathroom toilet erupted & the sewer water seeped under the walls into every adjacent room, soaked into the drywall & under the laundry room linoleum. All of the walls are now replaced after having the bottom 2 feet removed. We will need to get the walls painted is weekend while we don't have to worry about dripping on nice flooring! We laughed when the insurance lady told us it would be lucky to be done by 4th of July! Now we realize we'll be lucky to be done by New Year!! Most of the time was was spent trying to hire a reliable contractor & we finally got a great guy! There will be pictures posted once the entire process is finished!!
      Wishing you a restful Sabbath!
      Love, Tami
